About Me

Born and partially raised in Middlesex, I moved down to Devon at the age of 10. I have always been taking photos, on film cameras, digital cameras, smart phones and now my DSLR. I took pictures of EVERYTHING. Places I'd visited, places I'd stayed on holiday, funky looking walls or buildings, family getting up to no good - you name it I've found a photo that I had taken of it. Starting secondary school, I discovered a deeper love for photography whilst out exploring my new home surroundings in the countryside. I was fortunate enough to be able to take photography as an A Level course and carried it on with me until this day. I have always been a bit scared to put it honestly to start off with my own business, but with the amazing support of family and friends and a good kick up the behind, I made the leap and here we are! With two boys of my own I wanted something for them to be proud of. The name "Spectrum Photography" was born for two reasons. Firstly I cover a huge spectrum of photography, not just one subject. Secondly through honouring my youngest son who is on the Autism spectrum. Realising how hard life is with a SEN child and doing what I do made me realise that SEN families don't have the option to just get family photos taken. There's a whole thought process and military style planning procedure that goes into the very basic every day living tasks for most SEN families. A photo shoot can be something that many would avoid through fear of not being understood, the child's needs not being met or in many cases the judgement. I'm there. I'm living this reality, which is why Spectrum was created. I have no expectations, there's no pressure to get it right first time, and I take the time to get to know the families individual needs beforehand.
